Common Data Set
1.1 History of the Program
The Aeronautics major was developed in alignment with the vision of St. Teresa International University to produce graduates with morality, ethics, academic excellence, professionalism, and readiness to work in aviation-related professions. The primary objective of the program is to meet the growing demand for qualified personnel in the aviation industry.
The curriculum was first approved in 2016, and the first cohort commenced their studies in the academic year 2017.
In 2020, a curriculum revision was undertaken to ensure that the program remained relevant to the evolving needs of the aviation industry. A series of consultations and meetings were conducted with both internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback and recommendations for curriculum enhancement. As part of this revision, three professional pathways were introduced: Flying, Aviation-Related Careers, and Aviation English to provide students with broader career opportunities within the aviation sector.
Following the revision, the updated curriculum was approved by the Academic Council and the College Council in 2020 and subsequently approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), formerly under the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC). The revised curriculum was implemented in the academic year 2021.
As part of its commitment to continuous quality improvement, the Aeronautics Major initiated another curriculum revision in 2025 to further enhance the program in response to current industry trends, technological advancements, and stakeholder expectations. The revised curriculum is expected to be implemented in the academic year 2026.
