1.1 History of the Program
The Graduate Diploma Program in the Teaching Profession (English Program): This program is designed to develop competencies for graduates holding bachelor’s degrees in other fields of study who aspire to enter the teaching profession. It aims to equip them with pedagogical knowledge and skills, emphasizing a combination of theoretical learning, practical application, and intensive professional training.
The Graduate Diploma Program in the Teaching Profession (English program) at Saint Teresa International University has undergone three revisions. The first version (2013/2556) was implemented during the academic years 2013–2020(2556-2563) the second version (2018/2561) from 2018–2022(2561-2565), and the third version (2023/2566)—a competency-based curriculum—was introduced in the 2023/2566 Academic year. This third version aligns with the four key Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) under the 2022/2565 Higher Education Qualification Standards and was approved by the Teachers’ Council of Thailand for a two-year period (to accommodate curriculum accreditation adjustments).
In 2024, the program was further revised into its fourth version (2025/2568), which will be implemented from the academic year 2025–2029(2568-2569). This updated curriculum complies with the 2022/2565 Higher Education Standards and the 2024/2567 Teachers’ Council Curriculum Standards.
1.2 Current Curriculum
ill assess the implementation of the revised competency-based curriculum, 2024/2567 edition. A key feature of the current curriculum is its stronger emphasis on integrating learning with practice, adopting a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) approach.
For each 3-credit course, the course code is designated as 3(2-2-5), meaning:
- 2 hours per week of theoretical and conceptual learning,
- 2 hours per week of practical training in real-world educational settings.
All students must have a concrete weekly work schedule. The learning activities focus on developing well-rounded competencies, ensuring that students achieve all specified learning outcomes before graduation.
